On Job Training
Apprenticeship training is one of the most efficient ways to develop skilled manpower for industry by using on the job training facilities available in the establishments without putting any extra burden on exchequer to set up training infrastructure. It is one of the most important schemes in terms of quality of training, experiential learning and the enhanced employability that it provides. It gives apprentices a real chance to put skills in to practice and helps them to gain confidence in a working environment.
Apprenticeship training is a course of training in any industry or establishment, undergone in pursuance of a contract of apprenticeship between employer and apprentices and under prescribed terms and conditions.
Apprenticeship Has Two Training Components

Basic Training
Basic training is an essential component of apprenticeship training for those who have not undergone any institutional training/skill raining before taking up on-the-job training /practical training. Basic Training is imparted to fresher apprentices for acquiring a reasonable ability to handle Instruments /Machineries /Equipment independently prior to being moved to Shop Floor/ On-the -Job training.
On-job Training
On-the-Job training is the practical training imparted at the workplace premises of an establishment where an apprentice is engaged in the shop floor training & gains practical knowledge.

Procedure For Online Registration
Candidate Registration
- Visit the official government site www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in
- Register as Candidate and Activate your profile through your email id.
- Complete your eKYC and Credentials like bank details, Aadhar, education documents etc.
- Login with your email id & Apply to vacancies according to your education & Interest.(Candidates can search opportunities according to Job roles & as well as Location wise)
- Establishment will call selected profiles & offer a contract of Apprenticeship over portal.
- Candidate must accept & digitally Sign the offer on their Dashboard.
- After successful completion apply for Final Assessment & Certification through your Establishment.

What is the Qualification Required?
As per the Apprenticeship Act 1961, Minimum qualification to enroll in Apprenticeship training is primary Education, However we have written minimum qualification on each job role.

Apprenticeship training is a course of training in an industry or establishment, under a contract of apprenticeship which consists of :-
- basic training component and
- on-the-job-training (OJT)/practical training at workplace

All establishments having work force (regular and contract employees) of 30 or more are mandated to undertake Apprenticeship Programs in a range from 2.5% -15% of its workforce (including direct contractual employees) every year.
For establishments having a workforce between 4 - 29 this is optional.
Establishments have a workforce of 3 or less are not permitted to engage apprentices.
All sectors including manufacturing and service.
National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a scheme of Government of India to provide financial support to establishments undertaking the apprenticeship training. NAPS was launched on 19th August 2016.
The scheme has the following two components:
- Reimbursement of 25% of prescribed stipend subject to a maximum of Rs. 1500/- per month per apprentice by the Government of India to all employers who engage apprentices.
- Reimbursement of cost of basic training (up to a limit of Rs. 7500/- for a maximum of 500 hours= Rs. 15/hour) by the Government of India to Basic Training Providers (BTPs) in respect of apprentices who come directly for apprenticeship training without any formal training.
The scheme has the following two components:
- To promote apprenticeship training in the country.
- To provide financial support to establishments to undertake apprenticeship programs in the following ways –
- To support establishments, (especially MSMEs) to engage apprentices under the Apprentices Act and pay stipend to them as per prescribed rates wherein under NAPS 25% of prescribed stipend subject to a maximum of Rs. 1500/- per month per apprentice is reimbursed to such establishments by the Government of India to engage apprentices.
- To support the establishments, (especially MSMEs)-who do not have inhouse Basic Training Facilities-to set up such facilities in house or at a center outside its premises or to engage Training Partners to undertake the Basic Training activity on their behalf for fresher apprentices who need to undergo such Basic Training before joining the shop floor (on the job training) under the Apprenticeship program. Basic training cost up to a limit of Rs. 7500/- per apprentice for a maximum of 500 hours is reimbursed to them (to be calculated @ Rs. 15/hour) /or to the Basic Training Provider engaged by them under NAPS by the Government of India.
Basic training consists of theoretical and practical/ lab instructions segment of every Apprenticeship Program syllabi related to a particular trade post which on-the-job-training is imparted to the apprentice. Basic training is an essential component of apprenticeship training for those who have not undergone any institutional training/skill training before taking up on-thejob-training/practical training. Basic Training is imparted to fresher apprentices for acquiring a reasonable ability to handle Instruments/Machineries/Equipment independently prior to being moved to Shop Floor/Work Area for practical / On-Job training.
Note:The establishment needs to pay the apprentice 50% of the prescribed stipend during basic training.
